ABOUT MICHIGAN'S LENAWEE COUNTY
The word ‘Lenawee' comes from the Shawnee word meaning ‘Indian'. Lenawee County is home to several villages, towns, and cities of varying sizes and populations, the two largest being Adrian and Tecumseh. Other towns include Onsted, Hudson, Britton, and Brooklyn, home of the Michigan International Speedway. While a majority of Lenawee County is farmland, it is also home to a wide variety of businesses and factories, resulting in perfect blend of charm and necessity. The area known as Irish Hills is a popular tourist destination featuring an assortment of activities for young and old.
There are over 30 lakes in the county, the largest being Wamplers Lake. Formed by the retreat of the glaciers which covered most of North America 10,000 years ago, this lake has been a recreational hot spot since the 19th century.
