Recently,Associate Professor Zhao Tong from the Discharge Plasma and Biomedical Application Team of the School of Electrical Engineering has made new progress in the study of the microscopic mechanism of apoptosis induced by atmospheric pressure low-temperature plasma,The research results are titled "ReaxFF-based molecular dynamics simulation of the interactions between OH radicals in plasma and succinate dehydrogenase in cancer cell mitochondria",Published in the international authoritative journal "Plasma Processes and Polymers" in the field of plasma,Selected as a cover article by the journal。

In recent years, with thePlasmaTechnological Development,Plasma medicine is rapidly emerging as a typical cutting-edge interdisciplinary subject,Atmospheric pressure plasma-assisted cancer treatment has its own unique advantages compared with traditional methods,Can reduce trauma at the same timereachedTraditional surgeryDifficult-to-reach lesions,Selective apoptosis of cancer cells。However, its microscopic mechanism is still unclear,Resulting in the lack of necessary theoretical guidance for clinical application,Becoming a hot spot and difficulty in current research in the field of plasma medicine。Research selected the main active particles in plasmaInteracts with cancer cellsMechanismis the research object,willMolecular dynamics simulation methodCombined with experimental diagnosis,Study on the microscopic mechanism of plasma-induced mitochondrial enzyme dysfunction in cancer cells。Research findings,In the process of plasma treatment of cancer cells,OHFree radicalWill oxidize succinate dehydrogenase on the inner mitochondrial membrane,Causes irreversible damage to the molecular configuration of respiratory enzymes,Thus affecting cell energy supply、Inhibit the normal life activities of cancer cells,And ultimately induce apoptosis of cancer cells。This research can provide theoretical guidance and analysis methods for the clinical medical application of atmospheric pressure plasma-assisted cancer treatment,Has important scientific significance and application value。
