Professor Ralph Kennel gave a wonderful report on the application of power electronics in various fields. Professor Kennel first briefly introduced the basics of power electronics, that is, the efficient conversion of electrical physical quantities (voltage, current, power) through power semiconductor devices, which can be used in scenarios such as voltage boosting and bucking, frequency conversion, interference compensation, and equipment control.
Subsequently, Professor Kennel introduced the matrix inverter. The matrix inverter realizes the conversion of one AC system into another variable frequency AC system. The maximum line voltage forms the "DC link voltage". This kind of inverter has the advantages of good output voltage and current characteristics, low line voltage harmonics, and no DC link capacitance and inductance.
Finally, Professor Kennel discussed model predictive control (MPC) and impedance source inverter with the students. MPC controls based on models, including direct model predictive control and other predictive control methods.
After the report, Professor Kennel had an in-depth discussion with the students on the content of the lecture, and the students benefited a lot.

Later, Teacher Gao Jianbo gave the students a wonderful report on servo forging technology.
First, teacher Gao Jianbo introduced the current status of servo forging technology to the students. Teacher Gao introduced the principles of mechanical presses and the wide application of presses in automobiles, home appliances, aerospace and other fields. Then he compared servo presses with traditional presses and elaborated on the performance, energy consumption, price, etc. of servo presses.
Afterwards, Mr. Gao Jianbo analyzed the development status of servo presses at home and abroad. The development trends of servo press technology at home and abroad are similar, but the domestic market acceptance needs to be improved; domestic batches are small and price is important, while foreign batches are large and quality is important, resulting in different market demands for servo presses.
Finally, Teacher Gao Jianbo showed the students the results of the industrialization of new servo forging technology. Teacher Gao's team independently developed high-power servo drives, direct drive motors, and servo forging control systems and applied them to 150-ton multi-link servo presses, 315-ton and 400-ton electric screw presses, and 1,000-ton electric screw presses.
At the end of the academic report, the participating teachers and students took a group photo together. This issue of the "Jixiafeng" postgraduate academic forum came to a successful conclusion with sparks of wisdom and warm applause.
