The School of Electrical Engineering holds the semi-finals of the "Freshman Cup" debate

  October 21 afternoon,The semi-finals of the "Freshman Cup" debate competition of the School of Electrical Engineering were held in the teaching building of Xinglongshan Campus。Two debate teams sent by Class 1 and Class 5 had a fierce duel on the topic "Whether the restoration of the ancient city has more benefits than disadvantages or does the disadvantages outweigh the benefits"。Yang Lei,Teng Hao,Lu Wenjie was invited to serve as a judge。

   


After the judges gave a brief introduction to the competition rules,The two sides began a fierce tit-for-tat battle。In the argument stage,The affirmative’s first defense speech was resounding,Expand from the two aspects of protecting the cultural significance and economic value of the ancient city,Clearly organized,Coherent discussion;The opposition is unwilling to be outdone in its argument,Extensive quotations,Progress layer by layer,In-depth argument that protecting the ancient city will do more harm than good。Both sides are evenly matched,Not giving in to each other。Next,The four debates of both sides seized on each other’s arguments and questioned them,The opposing side’s four arguments use metaphors skillfully,Continuous questions,Start incisive inquiries from multiple angles such as "How to define restoration and reconstruction" and "Is a project worth investing far greater than the return?",Overwhelm the opponent。

                           


As the debate deepens,The scene continues to heat up,Both sides are at war with each other。Setting up the scene for the second debate of the affirmative,Make the judges and the audience feel like they are there,Feel the cultural influence brought by the ancient city;The three opposing parties are pressing hard on the same practical problems of rebuilding the ancient city,Gradually bring the debate to a climax。

                           

Intermission,The debaters on both sides did not relax,Discuss countermeasures with off-site coaches,Summary question。Debaters think carefully,The audience is waiting patiently,The atmosphere in the venue is calm but tense,A new storm is coming。

The free debate begins,The opposition raises questions one after another,Give a lot of examples,Strong offensive;The positive answer is fluent,Get up one after another,Clever answer。Both parties come and go for a while,It’s hard to tell the difference。Closing debate,The four opposing arguments are based on personal experience,Integrate feelings,Experience your experience,Perfectly summarizes your own point of view;The four arguments of the affirmative are based on reason,Elevate the significance of the reconstruction of the ancient city to the level of national development,Proves the team’s depth of thinking。

                           

Audience Q&A session,Two spectators put forward their own thoughts,And raise questions to the debaters。And in the comment section,The judges carefully analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of the two teams,Give suggestions for improvement,Fully reflects the professionalism of the judging team。
